Playing a Crucial Role in the Future of Medical Education in India! ComColor Supporting an Educational Enterprise and Medical Students’ Learning

DocTutorials is a startup in India that has developed an online learning service for students studying for entrance exams for medical studies. The company makes use of ComColor to print teaching materials. In this article, we find out how ComColor contributes to the development of medical professionals in India.

DocTutorials’ main office, located in Banjara Hills, central Hyderabad.

Strong support for business and medical studies

DocTutorials is located in Hyderabad in southern India, a city with a population of over 40 million people that has attracted attention in recent years as various major global IT companies have established offices there. DocTutorials, a startup for medical education, was founded in this IT-friendly city in 2017. Karteek Routh, one of the co-founders, says, “Our mission is to empower people who aspire to become doctors. We aim to become the best online medical education platform offering the finest learning resources for the doctors of the future.”
In recent years, over 2 million students annually take India’s national entrance examination for medical and dental studies, known as NEET*, with the hope of securing one of approximately 100,000 seats.

The number of people taking the exam is increasing every year, and the enthusiasm for medical studies is only growing stronger. Therefore, since its inception, DocTutorials has been operating a dedicated app for medical studies as well as publishing services aimed at medical professionals and entrance exam candidates in order to meet such needs. The number of students have now reached around 20,000, and they continue to receive new people signing up.
Ram Prasad, who is in-charge of publishing, explains, “Until now, we typically produced medical-related content and publications in-house, and only the printing was outsourced to an external company.” However, by outsourcing printing, delivery gets delayed and concerns about confidentiality became major issues. As a result, DocTutorials decided to install four ComColor in November 2023, and has been printing everything in-house since then. Talking about this move, Prasad says, "When we were outsourcing printing, we had to print in black and white to reduce costs, but printing in-house has allowed us to make all printed materials full color. We are also able to keep our content confidential, and so I am very satisfied." Mr. Balraji, the purchasing manager, also approves and comments, “There is no other printer available in the market that not only let us reduce printing costs this much, but also has such high productivity.” In India’s booming medical education industry, ComColor offers strong support to DocTutorials’ business and in helping students who aspire to become doctors in the future to achieve their dreams.

The city of Hyderabad now has many high-rise buildings due to urban development in recent years.

Four ComColor are in almost constant use, printing books, journals, and teaching materials.

To date, DocTutorials has printed more than 10 million pages. A dedicated operator is assigned to the job of printing.

In addition to developing its own mobile app, DocTutorials also has a YouTube channel with over 120,000 subscribers.
